Sustainable living/Hållbart boende

English version:

I have once again donned my cap. It is exactly the same one I put on in the middle of September 2013 during one of the coldest years in my life, in Moss Side, Manchester, and which I didn´t take off until in May. That cold! Yesterday, once again, a month earlier, I put it on here in the settlement! The question is, when will I take it off again this time?

It is four degrees Celsius out there. It is raining cats and dogs. It is an ice cold rain. The clouds are low over the mountains. We have many small projects going on which is part of the big one. One of these smaller projects is to figure out a way to have a full sustainable living during current circumstances. Meaning being a vegetarian is not an option here. And the cost of living is extremely high here, as regards to electricity, oil, food and services, way more than I think is reasonable. Something isn´t right and I will put a considerable effort into figuring out why it is like this. Something isn´t right and someone is making an unnecessary lot of money. Not good and as you know who have followed my work, I don´t like that. Anyway, we have no heating turned on in our lovely little cottage right now. At least I closed the bedroom window yesterday. The girls are doing well in the cold, but I personally had to go and pee three times during the night last night and that is a sign of being cold and the body emptying itself of liquid. So, right now, we put on additional clothes and it hasn´t been a problem until the arrival of this evil, raw and cold rain. The cottage we live in is a dream. It consists of a little kitchen with all you need, we use the oven a lot for baking bread, because bread here is 6 dollars a loaf of decent bread, se we use that after heat to kill the cold. There´s a small sitting room with a sofa and a table, which is not only the place for dinner, but also my workplace. There´s a small entrance hall, two smaller rooms where the oil- and water tank is located and a small toilet with a bucket for the needs and a shower. There´s a steep set of stairs leading up to the top floor consisting of a room with a gigantic and extremely comfortable mattress we all sleep on and a small room where we store our gear. The heating elements are big and good, but there´s no floor insulation, but windows are double glazed. So, I have communicated with friends all over the world who are experts on sustainable and economical living and the major answer is to better insulate most things like doors, windows and so on.  And add aluminum foil behind the heating elements will help drastically due to the reflections apparently. Plus moving out furniture and all things blocking the elements, it is said makes a major difference. We don´t leave chargers in the plugs when not in use for example.  As regards to floor insulation, our extremely kind and generous hosts Svend and Julie, have said will be fixed before the arrival of winter.  We have fewer showers, using less water and less heat. It all works well, BUT it does take a fair amount of energy and time to adjust! But the cottage is a dream and is perfect for us!

On top of all this, we all have colds now, fever and runny noses. The reason is of course that he girls have started school and pre-school! People in the settlement are really great, warm, helpful and incredibly warm!

We have received absolutely no mail yet. And if I am to believe Telepost nobody else in the settlement haven´t either for more than a week. RAL is supposed to arrive today with our winter gear. Up until today we have basically lived in the clothes and shoes we arrived in. But that works as well!

Dana had her 5th birthday yesterday and had a really nice celebration at her preschool, which she loves!
