📣 We’re heading into the unknown – Kyrgyzstan 2025
Today, I board a flight with my daughters Dana and Eva. We’re heading to Kyrgyzstan—for a new expedition and the start of our next documentary:
No Map for Growing Up.
This time, it’s not cycling. The girls want to walk. For over a month, we’ll trek together through the high valleys, ridges, and alpine plateaus of the Tian Shan. Most nights we’ll wild camp. Most of the time, we’ll have a horse with us—because otherwise we simply couldn’t carry what we need.
We’re also attempting to summit Pik Boris Yeltsin at the end of the journey, if the conditions and our legs allow.
Joining us throughout the expedition is Alina—translator, filmmaker, and cultural bridge. Back in Sweden, I’ll be working with Alex Shiriaieff at Euroarctic as producer. We’re also proudly collaborating with Adilet Karzhoev in Kyrgyzstan—making this the first-ever Swedish–Kyrgyz documentary co-production of its kind.
The aim of the film?
To capture what it means to grow up without a map—physically, emotionally, and culturally. It’s not scripted. It’s not controlled. It’s simply lived.
We’ll be walking routes like the Ala-Kul Pass, Sary-Jaz Plateau, and other remote trails—distances and elevations that will test both muscles and mood. Some days will be beautiful. Others will be hard. That’s part of the story.
The film is being produced under real expedition conditions. No big team. No safety net. Just the four of us—me, my daughters, Alina—a horse, a tent, and a camera.
The main sponsor, as always, is Kensington Tours.
I’ll be sharing regular updates and images here and on Instagram, with a new essay every Saturday on Substack.

Here we go. No map. Just movement.
