Sömnbrist/Little sleep

(Swedish version first, followed by the English one)

Igen. Men mörkret är här. Dagarna går. Man åldras snabbar här, helt klart.

English version:

Right now it is 5 a.m in the morning and Pam just left the cabin in darkness and -6 degrees C cold heading for work.  It is a star studded sky out there. Late last night was dominated by spectacular northern lights. But we were too tired to go out and enjoy it to its fullest capacity. We are quite run down right now. The girls have had several bouts of diarrhea and colds, so they don´t sleep to good either and need attention during night. We are still adjusting to the fact that Pam begin so dead early 5 days a week, sometimes 6, att the fish factory. She´s been able to adjust to the new routines of having a job and likes the work she is doing, but sure it is quite demanding. There´s no doubt her beginning to work there have raised our standard of living considerably in most ways, more and better food (lots of cod and halibut), better economy and the fish factory is really the heart and motor of the town. But she goes to bed early, so does the girls and my workdays are really short. Even though I get up when Pam leaves, I haven´t made it far, before it is time to wake the girls up, make breakfast (most of the time they want freshly baked bread), then we´re off to school and Eva has the shortest of days, she finishes between 12-13, this week at 11 and next week she has autumn holidays. In between all this I have to shop, make calls and arrangements (just getting glasses for Eva is a major Expedition) and meet people. And I meet quite a few people with quite rough stories of life and that takes a lot of energy.

Winter is on its way. Again. But the darkness is already here. The days pass by. And there´s no doubt that one is ageing quicker here.

Just a short note from our every day life in Greenland.
