Det tar sin tid att göra en dokumentär. Från början var arbetsnamnet Expedition Grönland som sedan blev Mannen Med Familjen – Ett Grönländskt Äventyr. Från ax till limpa tog det 3 år. Första scenerna filmades på Nationalmuseet i Köpenhamn. Pam och jag träffade Intendent Martin Appelt på Grönlandsavdelningen. Vår bild av Grönland var då fortfarande exotiserande. Där på museet fanns grönländska kajaker, grönländare i pälskläder och det var svårt att inte ha bilden av ett exotiskt Grönland.
Vi åt sill på rågbröd till lunch. Pam hade sin plan för vad hon ville göra i Grönland. Jag min. Klimatförändringarna låg högt upp på schemat. Kanske var det också platsen där vi ville bo för alltid. Men vart skulle vi bo?
Ingenting blev egentligen som vi tänkt! Ändå blev det en fantastisk upplevelse som helt förändrade allas vårt liv. Till det bättre.

It takes time the makings of a documenatry. The worktitle from the beginning was Expedition Greenland. It turned into Man With A Family – A Greenlandic Adventure. From start to end, it took 3 years of work. the first scenes were shot at the Danish Nationalmuseum in Copenhagen. Pam and me had a meeting with the curator, Martin Appelt oat the Greenland section. Our image of Greenland was still exotic at that time. It was hard not to, since the museum was stuffed with kayaks and Greenlanders dressed in fur.
We had herring on ryebread for lunch. Pam had her idea what she wanted to get out of her time in Greenland. I had mine. Climate changes were high on my agenda. Maybe this was the place which we wanted to make our future home? But where would it be?
Nothing turned out as expected! But 3 years later our year in Greenland had changed all our lives for the better!
