Spitzbergen and Svalbard 2016. I had the honor to take a great group from home (Malmö) to Svalbard. First visit in my life and plagued by the soarest throat I have had in years and I was put on antibiotics for ten days, that bad. Fortunately I had an understanding group, but really not good. I felt superb arriving, but after having been in Greenland, it just doesn´t compare. Svalbard as I saw it, was all in the hands of extremely managed tourism. Scenery was superb, the visit to the former Soviet enclave Barentsburg was rally interesting. If asked wether to choose Svalbard or Greenland, easy, easy choice, it just doesn´t compare.
